Two Cirencester Town defenders moving out

KIERAN Diaz-Benitez has left Cirencester Town and Mason Lewis is set to go out on loan as boss Charlie Griffin reshuffles his pack following the signing last week of Michael Pook and Will Christopher.

Diaz-Benitez made the last of 38 appearances for Town when coming off the bench in Monday's defeat at Swindon Supermarine.

"I've now brought in another right back (Will Christopher) and I have plenty of cover in that position with Aidan (Bennett) and Jonah (James Mortimer-Jones)," said Griffin. "So I think it is only fair to Kieran that he finds another club, plays some football and starts enjoying it because I can't guarantee he will be in the match day squad.

"Kieran stepped up massively when coming in initially from Purton. But he had a nasty injury with a broken nose and I don't think he ever got back to his early levels.

"He also had a tough pre-season with knocks and there are other people ahead of him now."

Griffin is also moving out another of his young players, Mason Lewis, but only on loan.

"Mason wants to stay and fight for his place but we are trying to find him another club on loan so that he can play 10 or 12 games," said Griffin. "The players we have now will keep him out of the squad.

"Hopefully, he will come back a better and stronger player because he too stepped up quite a lot to this level.

"We are trying to get him dual registered with another club now."
