Didcot Town score late goal to take the three points at the Corinium Stadium.

Evo Stik Southern League 2017/18

West Division

Cirencester Town   1 – 2   Didcot Town

Didcot Town were the latest visitors to The Corinium Stadium for the second league match to be played on the new 3G surface.

The home side started the game positively and opened the scoring after 18 minutes when a back-header from Jack Watts, into the path of ALAN GRIFFIN, was volleyed inside the right post.  1-0.

Ten minutes later ‘The Railwaymen’ equalised when LOUIS JOYCE was on hand to finish from just outside the 6 yard box when an attempted clearance landed at his feet.  1-1.

Mason Lewis and Matt Jones caused the visitors some concern but Didcot closed the half with a couple of long range efforts.

After the interval Cirencester pressed but were unable to add to their account and Didcot ‘keeper Leigh Bedwell produced two excellent saves to deny Ben Whitehead and Matt Jones as Cirencester changed to a 3-man defence in an effort to gain more possession and push forward.

This decision resulted in more space on the flanks that Didcot exploited to place the home goal under siege during the final few minutes and on the stoke of 90 minutes substitute SETH HUMPHRIES collected a loose ball on the left side of the penalty area and curled his effort inside the far right post to secure victory for his side.  1-2.
