Cirencester lose local derby at Swindon Supermarine by odd goal in three.

West Division

Swindon Supermarine   2 – 1   Cirencester Town

For the third match in a row Cirencester lost by the odd goal in three – this time to local rivals Swindon Supermarine.

Cirencester pressed their hosts from the kick-off but it was Supermarine who had the first efforts at goal as Josh Parsons and Ryan Campbell fired wide of the target.

Despite the visitors having much of the ball in the early stages it was the home side that opened the scoring as a shot from the left flank was parried by Matt Wieczorek into the path of an unmarked JOSH PARSONS who placed his cushioned volley inside the right post before the ‘keeper could recover.  1-0.

A minute later Cirencester had the ball in the back of the Supermarine net for an ‘offside’ decision to rule it out but minutes later they scored one that did count as ALAN GRIFFIN placed his shot inside the right post after a period of pressure in the home area.  1-1.

Cirencester continued to press for the remainder of the half with the home side mounting quick counter attacks.

Within minutes of the re-start Supermarine took the lead from the penalty spot as BRAD HOOPER tucked his kick inside the right post.  2-1.

The home defence weathered the initial response from Cirencester and then created a number of opportunities to increase their tally that went begging.

Cirencester pressed again towards the end but could not break through a solid home defence to lose by a familiar score-line.
