Pre-season friendlies announced by the Standard

A CHELTENHAM Town U23 side are expected to be the first visitors to christen the new £500,000 3G pitch which is being constructed at Cirencester Town's Corinium Stadium.Charlie Griffin's team will have a busy pre-season schedule which includes visits to Bradford-on-Avon, Longlevens, Malmesbury Vics and Tuffley Rovers – where former Town stalwart Mark Pritchett is manager – before the arrival of Gary Johnson's youngsters on Saturday, July 22.

Three days later, Swindon Town's U18s will be coming to the Corinium to take on Griffin's men in a warm-up game.

Cirencester's first competitive game of the campaign will be the Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Trophy Final at the Glos FA's HQ in Almondsbury on Wednesday, August 2, when they play Bristol City U21s.

The game was postponed when a suitable date and venue could not be found at the end of last season.

CIRENCESTER TOWN'S pre-season schedule:

Sat, July 8 – Bradford on Avon (A);

Tues, July 11 – Longlevens (A);

Sat, July 15 – Malmesbury Vics (A);

Tues, July 18 – Tuffley Rovers (A);

Sat, July 22 – Cheltenham Town U23s (H);

Tues, July 25 – Swindon Town U18s (H);

Wed, August 2: Bristol City U21s in the Glos Senior Challenge Trophy Final.
