Cirencester finally get the long awaited victory and vital 3 points.

Premier Division
Stratford Town 0 - 1 Cirencester Town
The Centurions made the comparatively short journey up the Fosse Way to face 17th placed Stratford Town and secured the long awaited victory and importantly brought back a vital 3 points in their bid to retain their place in the Premier Division for next season.
Due to the heavy rain of the past week the pitch was very heavy and the bounce unpredictable resulting in a far from classic match but one which had plenty of endeavour.
As early as the 4th minute Cirencester had a ‘scare’ as Stratford produced a 1 v 1 between Ben Stephens and Glyn Garner that the ‘keeper won but the home player was adjudged to be ‘offside’ anyway.
Cirencester had a couple of opportunities to open the scoring with Alan Griffin and debutant Kerry Morgan clearing the home crossbar but at the other end Garner produced a couple of superb saves to ensure the scores remained level at the interval.
Stratford came out in positive fashion after the break and within minutes Cirencester survived a goalmouth scramble with defenders putting their bodies on the line to block.
The visitors weathered the early storm and as the game entered the final quarter began to press forward with more conviction creating a couple of good openings as Aidan Bennett sent his cross from the left corner through the 6 yard box without contact and Matt Liddiard struck a sweet volley that ‘keeper Niall Cooper managed to push round his left post.
A couple of minutes later Cirencester had the goal they had been searching for as another Liddiard shot was parried high into the air by Cooper and as it dropped under the bar at the left post ALAN GRIFFIN was on hand to nod home from a couple of yards.
The home side put Cirencester under a lot of pressure during the least ten minutes but ‘The Centurions’ were not to be denied their first victory in 12 outings.
