Two Torquay United players expected to sign today

TWO Torquay United squad members are expected to sign for Cirencester Town on Tuesday with a view to playing in the evening home match with Dorchester Town.

Striker Jamie Chamberlain and winger Will Hancox will bid to boost boss Charlie Griffin's misfiring forward line.

Torquay are just above the relegation zone in the Vanarama National League and are in the throes of being taken over by new owners.

Chamberlain, 26, played for Bideford Town in the Southern Premier last season and was an unused sub when the West Country side scored an astonishing 4-3 win at the Corinium Stadium towards the end of the campaign, having been 3-0 down. He subsequently completed a successful trial at Torquay and joined on a non-contract basis at the start of this season.

He has been unable to force his way into the side, most recently being used on the bench in the FA Cup defeat to Woking in mid-October and as a last-minute sub in the league defeat to Eastleigh. For the last two Saturdays he has turned out for Bridgwater Town in the Southern League Div One South and West against Wantage and Hereford.

Earlier this month Chamberlain lined up for Nuneaton Town in a behind-closed-doors friendly against England 'C' at Warwick University.

Chamberlain is represented by the same Julian Joachim agency which sourced Ciren's recent impressive goalkeeper signing Raajan Gill.

Will Hancox was an unused sub for Torquay United against Guiseley on November 12.

Like Chamberlain, Hancox has been unable to hold down a regular place in the squad at Plainmoor. He too has had a spell out on loan at Bridgwater Town this season. Teenager Hancox signed his first pro contract with the National League side in May this year having joined the youth set-up there from Plymouth Argyle previously.

He is coming to Ciren on an initial month's loan with an option to stay longer.
