The Centurions lose to The Puritans again.
Cirencester Town 1 – 4 Banbury United
Cirencester met Banbury United for the third time this season - but the first time in a League fixture - and conceded three goals in a seven minute period to give The Puritans a massive advantage that the home side were unable to recover.
The Puritans first goal came following a corner kick the was initially punched away from goal by Harvey Rivers but immediately headed back in for DARIUS BROWNE to dart in and head home from 10 yards.
Two minutes later a misunderstanding between Ben Brown and Rivers led to the ‘keeper having to turn and enter a foot race with CONOR McDONAGH that the Banbury player won to tap home from a yard.
CONOR McDONAGH was on hand five minutes later to convert a cross from the left from 8 yards to give his side a 3-0 lead in the space of seven minutes.
The final goal for Banbury came with 11 minutes of the first half remaining when DARIUS BROWNE latched onto a miss-hit shot from Jack Self to drive the ball into the net off the underside of the crossbar.
Despite being 4-0 down the home side made a game of the second half and within ten minutes of the re-start a Matt Liddiard header and Kieran Diaz-Benitez 25 yard shot required good saves from Jack Harding to keep them out.
As the game entered the final ten minutes of normal time Robbie James struck the left post a glancing blow with a fine header from a Sam Hunt free kick from the left flank.
With a couple of minutes remaining debutant JASON MILHENCH scored a consolation goal for the home side with a well placed header, inside the left post, following good work from Diaz-Benitez on the left flank.
