New recruits help Cirencester score four in victory over Dorchester Town.

Cirencester Town   4 – 1   Dorchester Town

Following their 6-0 defeat on Saturday the Cirencester Management Team had been busy sourcing new recruits and three new faces - Jamie Chamberlain and Will Hancocks (both on loan from Torquay United) and Luke Ballinger (Melksham Town) - lined up in the starting eleven and the Torquay contingent had a hand in three of the goals.

The game was played at a frantic ‘end-to-end’ pace but it was Cirencester who opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a well taken goal from AIDAN BENNETT as he collected a pass with his back to goal, turned and fired a low drive inside the left post.

Dorchester responded with a couple of efforts – one just wide of the target and the other pushed round his post by ‘keeper Raajan Gill.

Just after the mid-point of the half JAMIE CHAMBERLAIN doubled the lead as he latched onto a clearance header on the edge of the Dorchester penalty area and produced a sensational right footed volley that flew into the top right corner.

Eleven minutes after the interval WILL HANCOCKS was presented with a ‘tap-in’ at the right post after the lively Chamberlain’s shot had been parried by ‘keeper Shane Murphy.

Cirencester scored their fourth a few minutes later as JAMIE CHAMBERLAIN drove the ball inside the right post from the penalty spot after he had been upended by Murphy.

Dorchester pulled a goal back in the final quarter as OLLIE BASSETT sent a curling shot into the top right corner of the home net but Cirencester were not to be denied and defended with determination to secure the victory.
