Griffin number 3 joins the club (only 2 are related..)

CIRENCESTER TOWN boss Charlie Griffin has signed his younger brother Alan, who is expected to go straight into the starting line-up at Frome Town on Wednesday night.Prolific striker Alan was naturally Charlie's first target when he took over as Ciren manager at the beginning of October. At the time, he could not pry his 33-year-old sibling away from Southern Premier rivals Chippenham Town, who are chasing hard for the title in second place behind Leamington.
But now the front man, who has not been getting a regular start for the Bluebirds with the free-scoring duo Andy Sandell and David Pratt in the side, has decided to make the switch.
Griffin jnr's task will be to add a much-needed goal threat to the Centurions line-up and help the 19th-placed side pull away from the relegation zone.
It will be fascinating to see how Griffin dovetails with dual-registered Torquay United striker Jamie Chamberlain, who scored two goals for Ciren on his debut in the 4-1 win over Dorchester Town last week. Unfortunately, Chamberlain came off early on Saturday against Leamington after feeling his hamstring and is a doubt for the Frome game.
Alan Griffin brings an end to his third spell at Chippenham Town where he is something of a cult hero. His other clubs have included Corsham Town, Swindon Supermarine and Mangotsfield United. Following knee surgery in the 2014/15 season Griff took a break from the rigours of Southern League football and became player-manager at then-Wiltshire Premier League side Malmesbury Victoria.
But having proven his fitness he was tempted back for another stint at Chippenham Town by boss Mark Collier as an emergency striker due to an injury crisis and has been a squad regular ever since.
Older brother Charlie, who has brought in seven new faces in the past three weeks, now hopes his recruiting push is over and that the settled squad will improve for a run of games together.
On Wednesday, they face one of their former players, Ollie Knight, who has recently joined Frome Town. The Centurions will be looking for revenge having been soundly trounced 4-1 by their West Country rivals in the opening home game of this season.
