Cirencester lose at home to Premier Division newcomers Kings Langley.
Cirencester Town 0 – 1 Kings Langley
Cirencester returned to league action against Kings Langley, following their FA Cup success last week, and conceded a goal just before the interval that proved to be the winner in a tight affair.
The visitors started quickly with some crisp passing and movement and within the first couple of minutes Ben Brown had to clear a Kings Langley effort of his goal-line.
Cirencester gradually worked their way into the game and by the mid-point it was an ‘end-to-end’ encounter with both sides having pots at goal.
As the half progressed Cirencester pushed forward with more conviction and in the latter stages were ‘peppering’ the visitors penalty area with crosses and corner kicks but just before the interval Kings Langley countered to win a corner kick on their right flank that led to the only goal of the game as LEWIS TOOMEY reacted quickest, when the ball was fed back in from near the left post, to poke the ball home from the edge of the 6 yard box. 0-1.
Cirencester’s Adam Connolly skimmed the bar with a 25 yarder immediately after the break as the home side searched for an early goal but Kings Langley held firm.
As the game entered the final 15 minutes Cirencester had a loud penalty appeal rejected and during the last ten minutes Harvey Rivers pulled off a couple of close range saves as the visitors tried to put the game to bed.
