Cirencester lose to high flying Leamington in final home match of the season.

Cirencester Town  1 – 2  Leamington

Prior to the final home match of the season there were several presentations to Steve Abbley, including the naming of the main stand in his honour, to recognise his contribution to the Club during his 20 years as Chairman – and whilst Leamington joined in the celebration they were at the Corinium Stadium to take the points that would keep them in the ‘play-off’ positions in the Premier Division table.

Within the first five minutes Josh Langley was called into action as he pulled off a fine close range reflex save.

Five minutes later Leamington opened the scoring when JACK EDWARDS finished from 12 yards and with the wind and slope in their favour they dominated play for the first 30 minutes forcing Cirencester to defend with determination.

The Centurions had to rely on occasional counter attacks but towards the end of the half they produced a couple of encouraging openings.

After the interval Cirencester took the game to their experienced visitors but were hit on the counter when COURTNEY BAKER-RICHARDSON produced a smart finish to increase their lead in the 73rd minute.

Cirencester pushed forward and were rewarded for their effort in ‘added-time’ when ALEX DINSMORE scored his first goal for the Club from 10 yards.
