Cirencester concede a goal 2 minutes before the interval to lose at Biggleswade.

Biggleswade Town 1 - 0 Cirencester Town

Despite a number of changes to their back-line Cirencester still managed to produce a spirited performance and could have opened the scoring in the 18th minute when a powerful Charlie Griffin header was initially parried by the home 'keeper before being collected.

Cirencester pressed during the half with Brad Hooper and Matt Liddiard shooting wide and high of the target respectively. Debutant Anthony Brown also had a shot, following a corner kick, but his firm strike was blocked just inside the right post and cleared.

Biggleswade were relying on counter attacks and this proved fruitful two minutes before the scheduled interval when a long ball down the left channel was chased by INIH EFFIONG.  The tall striker managed to get between the central defenders to reach the ball before an advancing Josh Langley and place his shot inside the right post.

Biggleswade could have increased their lead within a minute of the resumption but Langley pulled off a great save to thwart Effiong.

The second half was similar to the first with Cirencester pressing and Biggleswade counter-attacking.

During the half Griffin saw his free kick deflected wide of the left post, Hooper fired over the bar, Mark Pritchett's header was cleared and in between Langley made a couple of good saves to keep his side in the hunt.

Aidan Bennett had a fierce drive blocked - looked like handball but nothing awarded - and the follow up from Liddiard was also blocked.

In the final ten minutes the referee issued several Yellow Cards to Cirencester players and in added-time a straight Red to Mark Pritchett - much to the surprise of everyone, including the opposition.
