Cirencester boss Charlie Griffin has challenged his side to put together a cup run ahead of this weekend's FA Trophy game against Havant and Waterlooville.

The Centurions will be looking to repeat their performance from last year when they successfully navigated the qualifying rounds to reach the first round proper, where they were knocked out in a replay by Truro.

"For a club the size of Cirencester it would be fantastic to get a cup run going," Griffin said. It's a break from the league and a great competition to do well in, and it's a chance to test yourselves against better opposition."

Griffin turned out for Havant back in the 2001/02 season, and insists that he knows the club well even though it's been a while since he played for them.

He said: "I know what they're about because I played there myself. I'm really looking forward to it because I have a lot of respect for Havant.

Griffin also admitted that he's still "looking at a couple" of possible additions to his squad, and said that there "could be" something to announce in the near future.

"There may or may not be something to announce in the next day or so, but that's all I can say for now," he said.

Cirencester will be looking to continue their good form that has seen them now go three matches unbeaten following a 2-0 win against Dunstable in midweek.

"It was a good win for us. The lads put in a performance and after scoring a good goal I thought we were on top even before they had the man sent off," said Griffin. They started to throw men forward and we had to dig in, but we got the late goal and it was an important three points."
