Cirencester produce improved performance but return empty handed from Leamington who go top of the league.

Leamington  2 – 0  Cirencester Town

The Centurions made the relatively short journey to play second placed Leamington in their latest league fixture and despite a determined performance returned empty handed.

Cirencester started positively - taking the game to their hosts – and enjoyed the better possession during the first half hour but Leamington were working their way into the game and  eight minutes from the interval a cross from their left flank reached an unmarked JOE HALSALL  to the right of the penalty spot and whilst Cirencester appealed for an offside decision he struck a shot that bobbled over Glyn Garner’s outstretched leg to open the scoring.

After the break Cirencester continued to push forward as they searched for an equaliser, with Leamington counter attacking.

During the final five minutes of scheduled time Cirencester increased the pressure on their hosts but a clearance in added time found Rob Ogleby on the right flank and he galloped down the wing, drawing the only defender to him, before slipping the ball to a supporting LEE CHILTON who tucked it inside the left post from the edge of the penalty area to complete the scoring.
