Cirencester lose at improving Frome by odd goal in five.

Frome Town  3 - 2  Cirencester Town

An improving and confident Frome Town, having obtained draws against table-topping Chippenham and Leamington in their last two matches, defeated Cirencester by the odd goal in five in an entertaining match.

The home side opened the scoring in the 37th minute when LIAM MONELLE latched onto a ball down their left flank and cut back on the front edge of the area to place a low curling shot inside the far right post.

Cirencester countered immediately with a break down their right flank and when Charlie Griffin crossed towards the far left post CONNOR THOMPSON darted in to smash the ball home from close range.

With a minute of the first half remaining Frome regained the lead as KRIS MILLER collected a free kick on the right of the area and managed to retain possession as he was challenged to initially turn away from goal before moving to his right and unleashing a fierce left footed shot that took a slight deflection on its way to the back of the net inside the far left post.

Frome increased their lead following a break down the right when LEWIS HALDANE was on hand to produce a deft back heel at the near post from the resultant cross.

A few minutes later the game was delayed for 6 minutes as the referee was injured and had to be replaced by one of his assistants.

Cirencester pulled a goal back with a tremendous controlled strike from ADAM CONNOLLY that flew into the net from 30 yards leading to a nail-biting last few minutes as they searched for an equaliser - but the home side held out to secure the points.
