Rich Collins

Last week we were saddened to hear of the passing of Rich Collins late in the evening at his home following the Red Insure Cup tie against Shortwood United.

As many of you are probably aware, Rich was always a man to help out anyone, especially our football teams, and was probably known best for his role in the middle dressed in black!

Even following his recent surgery, he was always there to cover games if called upon, quite often at short notice. There are probably very few people in Cirencester, and the County come to that, that Rich hadn't come across in his role as a referee. He would have at some point, been in charge of a game involving you, your son, your daughter or even your team was involved with and he will be sadly missed.

Rich was also heavily involved in seeting up our fantastic Girls and Ladies teams over the years, even becoming manager for a while, and without him, there wouldn't even be teams there today.

We have a lot to be thankful for his contribution over the years, dedicating a lot of his time to our football club, and more recently volunteering to run the turnstiles on matchdays for our First Team and Wootton Bassett Football Club.

As a mark of respect, we will be holding a minute's silence in memory of Rich's life before our First Team home match against Frome Town on Saturday 15th November. Please come along as we remember Rich and all he did for our players, teams and our football club.
