Academy progress to Third Round Qualifying of FA Youth Cup

Cirencester Town Academy have once again begun a successful run in the FA Youth Cup having won through three rounds to reach the Third Round Qualifying stage of the competition.

In the Preliminary Round, on 10th September 2013, they overwhelmed Almondsbury UWE 6-0 before winning away at Paulton Rovers 3-2 in the First Round Qualifying a couple of weeks later.

They then convincingly beat Merthyr Town 5-2 at home in the Second Round Qualifying on Thursday 10th October 2013 in a tie which had originally been drawn as an away match at Merthyr, but was swapped to Cirencester's Corinium Stadium.

They are now due to play away at Forest Green Rovers in the Third Round Qualifying stage in a match due to be played during week commencing 21st October 2013.

The winners of the tie will then progress to the First Round Proper where they have been drawn at home to Torquay United.

Last season our Academy reached the Second Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup where they lost away at Swindon Town at their County Ground stadium. The best run they have had in the competition is a few years ago when they reached the Third Round Proper where in a very tight match they lost 2-1 away at Sunderland in a tie played at the Stadium of Light.
