Cirencester Town U15s - Junior Premier League Champions!

Cirencester Town Under 15s - Junior Premier League Champions!

The Junior Premier League Under 15s competition is divided into two Divisions, the Central Division and the Southern Division. At the end of the season, the top 2 from each Division then win through to a Final 4 Saturday knockout event to determine the winners of the overall league.

First plays second from opposite divisions with the winners advancing to the next game to play each other and the losing teams playing each other. This gives us the Final 4 placings for this age group.

This season's event was held at Evesham United FC on Saturday 18th May 2013, with both semi-final matches kicking off on adjacent pitches at the same time.

In the Under 15 tournament, Cirencester Town were drawn against pre-tournament favourites, Burton Central, and the other match was between Newport County and Rushden & Diamonds.

The games were played over 2 halves of 25 minutes and there was a short break between the 2 matches.

After having already seen off challenges from the likes of Reading, Forest Green Rovers, Yate Town and J.S Soccer, Cirencester Town reached the Final 4 by achieving a top 2 finish in the Southern Division along with Newport County with the Central Division representatives being Burton Central and Rushden & Diamonds.

Cirencester Town 2 - 0 Burton Central

The game started at a fast tempo with Cirencester taking the early lead from a Max Lloyd corner headed in by Jack Uzzell.

Cirencester kept pressing Burton and forcing mistakes and more rewards came in the 2nd half when Lewis Newman doubled the lead, again from a corner making the score 2-0.

Burton did have their chances but when they did get past the superb Cirencester defence they came up against an inspired goalkeeping display from Arie Peursum who produced 2 great saves.

Final score 2-0.

In the other Semi- Final, Newport County beat Rushden & diamonds on Penalties to secure a place in the Final.

Grand Final

Cirencester Town 2 - 0 Newport County

Both teams started off brightly after tough semi-finals.

Cirencester broke the deadlock with a superb JJ Royall volley, giving the Newport goalkeeper no chance.

Injuries to key players looked like it may open the door for Newport but Cirencester stood firm and, from another corner, Robbie James doubled the lead and secured the title for Cirencester Town.

Set play training on the Thursday before the finals really paid off as 3 of the 4 goals Cirencester scored today were straight from the training ground!

Man of the Match for the Final was Jamie Wallin who was superb, but when playing at this level everyone on the field has to play well to win, and nobody let Ciren down.

So, Arie Peursum, Ben Holley, Kallum Cooper, Robbie James, Jordan Day, Charlie Bridger, Jamie Wallin, Sam Mulvey, JJ Royall, Jack Uzzell, Lewis Newman, Max Lloyd, Kyle Kent, and Charlie Fox-Saunders enjoy your title as the number one Under 15s Junior Premier League Team.

Well deserved and lets do it again next season?
