Joe wins Award playing for JPL U12 Representative team
Last Thursday, two of Cirencester Town's Under 12s team, Joe Slack and Harvey Jupp, played for the Junior Premier League's Under 12 Representative side away against Stoke City's Under 12 Academy side.
The Representative side worked hard but were disadvantaged by Stoke wanting to play 11 v 11 which obviously our boys aren't used to, playing 9 v 9 in JPL matches.
They lost the match 5-1 but according to the side's managers played some lovely attacking football and kept the ball well. Had a couple of chances been taken, the scoreline would have been a lot closer.
Well done to those boys as the bigger pitch, goals and more players on the pitch would have been a big change for them.
As is traditional for JPL Representative matches, the Managers awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for the players who showed outstanding qualities during the match.
However, they could not split the top two players, so they awarded a double gold award to Isaac Thurston (Forest Green Rovers) and Tom Baker (North Somerset) - both centre backs were absolutely brilliant and played the whole game together.
The Bronze award went to our own Joe Slack (Cirencester Town) - with the following comments:
"a really tricky player with all of the skills and tricks and turns a modern forward player needs."
Congratulations to Joe on an outstanding achievement and also to Harvey Jupp for being selected to play in the match.
