Academy beat Mangotsfield to set up FA Youth Cup 2nd Rd tie at the County Ground

FA Youth Cup First Round Proper

Cirencester Town 5 - 2 Mangotsfield United

In a totally dominent performance, Cirencester Town Academy convincingly beat Mangotsfield United Under 18s 5-2,  after bizarrely going behind to two well-taken early goals in the 8th and 24th minutes completely against the run of play.

After going two down Ciren continued to press forward and on 35 minutes got a goal back when striker Tom Mazur headed in a Tim Bond cross.

Five minutes later, Tom Mazur got the equaliser with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area and just before half time Ciren went ahead when Harry Owen played in a low cross from the right wing through a crowded area which deceived the Mangotsfield defence and found the net.

Ciren continued their dominence in the second half although Mangotsfield upped their game in their efforts to get back into the match.

On 76 mins, Ciren clinched the match when Harry Owen played a great ball up the left channel for Tim Bond to run onto and outpace the defence to put in a cross which Harry Owen himself, showing great movement, finished with aplomb.

In the final moments of the match Tom Mazur completed the scoring and his hatrick to seal a fine win for Ciren.

Ciren now go on to play Swindon Town Academy away at The County Ground in the Second Round Proper on Tuesday 13th November 2012 with a 7pm kick off.
