Cirencester Town's Academy beat Bristol Academy to progress to 3rd Qualifying Round of FA Youth Cup
FA Youth Cup 2nd Qualifying Round
Cirencester Town 4 - 0 Bristol Academy
Cirencester cruised past local rivals Bristol Academy with a superb victory at the Corinium Stadium.
Cirencester dominated from the start forcing several corners and from one of them the ball fell to Tim Bond on the edge of the box and he duly fired the ball past the Bristol goalkeeper.
Cirencester continued to press forward and had several chances to increase their lead. Dan Roberts was denied by the Bristol goalkeeper, having his shot tipped past the post just before half-time.
The second half saw Bristol coming out stronger, but Naoki Montoya increased Cirencester’s lead after a goal kick from the Bristol goalkeeper was headed into the path of Montoya by Jack Smith and he coolly struck the ball past the goalkeeper to make the score 2-0.
It was the outstanding Jack Smith who added Cirencester’s third with a curling shot into the top corner of the goal after beating Bristol's centre half on the edge of the box.
Cirencester came under some late pressure from the now desperate Bristol team but they completed the rout when midfielder Dan Roberts chipped the ball with his right foot over the goalkeeper to make the final score 4-0.
Cirencester will now play Tiverton Town in the 3rd Qualifying round at The Corinium Stadium on Wednesday 17th October. Kick Off: 7.30 pm.
