Our Under 13s in entertaining draw at home to Burton in their first Junior Premier League match

Junior Premier League Central

 Cirencester Town 3 – 3 Burton Central

Cirencester Town hosted Burton Central in their first JPL fixture and what an advert for youth football the game turned out to be.

Playing on the main Corinium Stadium pitch, Burton were quickly into their football dominating both territory and possession. Cirencester held firm and when defences were breached, goalkeeper Conor Chivers made some excellent saves to keep the game even.

Burton however continued to press and took a deserved lead with an excellent individual goal from Charlie Dowd.

The goal lifted Cirencester who were quickly back on level terms with an excellent turn and curling finish high into the net from Tyler Fitchett which left the first quarter even.

Cirencester just about edged the second quarter but it was Burton who went in front once again with a superb move down the left that resulted in a smart finish by Conor Doyle to give the visitors the lead once again.

Cirencester fought back once again with Tom Pudifoot firing in an equaliser from close range.

The fourth quarter was very nip and tuck but once again it was Burton that took the lead with a lovely finish by Rhys Fearon and with five minutes remaining it looked like the visitors would take the spoils.

A tactical change for Cirencester saw them gamble with three up front for the last five minutes and after a great run and cross from skipper Sam Brewster, the ball found Oli Matthews who turned and fired in a equaliser.

This game was a credit to both teams, coaches and supporters played in the right way with great spirit and was a credit to the Junior Premier League. Cirencester would like to thank Burton Central for playing their part in what was a great morning's football. Thanks must also go to Cirencester Town FC for allowing the Under 13s to experience the first team pitch, changing rooms and function room as well as the under 13 parents for ensuring the after match socialising was such a success.
