Under 9s beat Avonvale and Painswick to consolidate lead at top of league table

Cotswold Youth League

Avonvale U9s 1 - 5 Cirencester Town U9s

It took 7 minutes for the first goal to come, arguably against the run of play with Ollie Claxton-Newman battling in a goalmouth scramble and finding the back of the net 1-0.

The latter part of the first half of the game was dominated by Avonvale pressure, their striker 'Amir' a real threat on the break. Cirencester broke away with Ben Carter down the left, delivering a fine cross to Philip Mcloughlin who found the back of the net 2-0.
Cirencester started the second half with the move of the game, the ball passed out to Luke Buck on the right who backed his pace and delivered a great cross for Philip to bag his second 3-0. Not long after, Ben Carter threw in to Philip scoring a well-deserved hatrick for 4-0. Ben ran the ball down the left crossing in to Aaron Mccillop for a well taken goal 5-0.
Late into the second half Avonvale continued to push for a goal and were rewarded with some indecision from the Cirencester defence and a goal mouth scramble 5-1.
The scoreline was harsh on a good Avonvale team but Cirencester were well worth their win playing as a united team.

Cirencester Town U9s 5 - 1 Painswick U9s

Both teams started really strongly and it was end to end stuff, both keepers making some great saves in the initial stages of the game. Ciren stuck to their game plan and were led in their fight by Ollie Claxton-Newman in the midfield.

The hard work finally paid off in the 12th minute when Ben Carter put his laces through the ball and whacked it into the top right corner, nothing the keeper could do to stop the net bulging. 1-0.

This kind of opened the flood-gates and added to the growing confidence of Ciren. Ben put in a great corner for Aaron B to get onto the end of making it 2-0 on 15 minutes.
From the re-start Ciren won the ball and it wasn't long before Ben found himself striding into the box with a little toe-poke to the side of the keeper on the 16th minute to make it 3-0. Luke Pennington puts in the perfect corner for Ollie to do a back header into the net 3 minutes after the restart. 4-0.
Painswick pinched one back with added pressure on our defence to make it 4-1. Again Luke put in the perfect corner for Ollie to do a back header 5 minutes into the second half to make it 5-1.
The score flatters Ciren somewhat, if it wasn't for a man of the match performance by Rio Hart in goal it could have been 5-5.
