Under 9s beat Malmesbury to maintain league lead
Cotswold Youth League
Cirencester Town U9s 4 - 1 Malmesbury Tornadoes
The match started with both teams getting used to the bobbly hard surface. Cirencesters' pressure paid off in the second minute with a mistake from the Malmesbury keeper to be pounced on by Aaron Burcham.
Cirencester kept the pressure on and minutes later Aaron Burcham threw in to Ollie Claxton-Newman who crossed to Ben Carter who found the net. Aaron Mcillop had a great shot on goal only to be matched by a fine save from the Malmesbury keeper.
End-to-end stuff followed and Ollie followed up a goalmouth scramble a forced the ball in the net 3-0.
Malmesbury never let their heads go down and almost from the re-start their striker took a really well-taken lob over the Ciren keeper to claw one back just before half time making it 3-1. Towards the end of the half William Dyer provided a well lofted corner right into the danger area and Luke Pennington finished it off with a fine header 4-1.
