Under 9s win in top of the table encounter

Cotswold Youth League

Cirencester Town U9s 2 - 0 Minchinhampton U9s

We welcomed Minchinhampton to the Corinium Stadium for an eagerly anticipated match for the two teams at the top of the Table.

From the off, this was a fiercely contested match with Cirencester spending more than their fair share of time in the Minch half. Several shots were made on target but their solid defence and good keeping kept us out. Minchinhampton looked dangerous on the break but Jonny and Luke P in defence were equal to the task with support from the midfield. Half time came 0-0.

The contest restarted with Cirencester into the wind but the sun behind them and was similar to that of the first half. Minchinhampton had several opportunities as the team changes settled in with Rio Hart making a couple of great saves. Aaron Burchams speed, determination and fight was impressive up front and started to cause problems.

Jonny Floyd's pressure paid off 10mins into the second half with a well taken goal in a goalmouth scramble, 1-0. Moments later Aaron's hard work paid off and he found the back of the net with another top quality goal 2-0.

Ciren made further changes and the game was back in full flow. This enthralling encounter ended 2-0 with jubilant cheers from the Ciren supporters and relief from the coaches.

Man of the Match: Jonny Floyd
