Under 9's Win at Home to Slimbridge

Cirencester Town U9s 2 - 0 Slimbridge Youth U9s

Cirencester kicked off with intent, playing several players in new positions and pressed forward, playing mostly in the Slimbridge half. Slimbridge were strong in defence and their goalie saved 3 good shots from Ben Carter.

Jonny Floyd playing as striker for his first time was also denied by some brave keeping. Slimbridge closed the play down very quickly in midfield although Cirencester's persistence was rewarded with a well taken goal from Jonny 1-0.

Half-time came, and whilst Cirencester looked the stronger team, there was only one goal in it. The Cirencester players needed to come out strong, facing into the sun in the second half.

The second half was similar to the first, Cirencester having much of the posession but Slimbridge closed down quickly even frustrating Philip Mclaughlin who normally enjoys things his own way up front. Eventually Ben Carter was rewarded for hard work and tenacity to score 2-0.

Slimbridge never gave up and had a few chances only to be denied by some strong defending and goalkeeping from Rio Hart, who had a very quiet day at the office.

Final whistle came, Cirencester were deserved winners of a close fought match.

Well played Luke Pennington, a great Man of the Match.
