FA Trophy Preview - Leatherhead FC

On Saturday Cirencester Town play host to Leatherhead from the Ryman Premier Division in the First Round Qualifying of the FA Trophy.

"The Tanners" have had a similar start to the season as Cirencester Town and currently sit bottom of the Ryman Premier Division having played 11 won 1 drawn 2 and lost 8 and have scored 10 and conceded 20 obtaining just 5 points.

Manager Mick Sullivan departed and was replaced by Richard Brady and despite their league position Leatherhead are progressing well in the FA Cup. So far they have seen off North Leigh 5-1, Biggleswade Town 2-1 in a replay after drawing 1-1 originally and in the last round they had a fantastic 3-0 away win at Billericay Town who are second in the Ryman Premier Division.

Striker Greg Andrews (pictured above) is their top goalscorer at present with 5 goals to his name followed by defender Danny Gainsford (pictured below) who has 3 goals.

After a much improved performance last Saturday from Cirencester Town the side will be looking to build on that this weekend. Missing from the side though will be top scorer Mike Tambling (pictured below) who is on a coaching course for the next two Saturdays as part of his job at Hartpury College.

One player who will be itching to get off the mark with his first goal for the club will be Mitch Bryant. After a stop-start opening to his Cirencester Town career having been sent off against Weymouth, Bryant (pictured below) has trained hard and looked sharp during his 3 match ban and started well against Barwell last Saturday causing problems for the Barwell back four. With his pace and finishing prowess it's felt that once he gets his first goal for the club he could well be off and running with plenty more.

Also missing from the side will be Matt Sysum who is still struggling through injury and Callum Henry who has been stopped from playing in the FA Trophy by his parent club Forest Green Rovers so he ends his loan spell with Cirencester Town a week early.Midfielder Adam Mayo sits out the second game of his three game ban.

With £2,200 at stake for the winners and the chance to get on a cup run, both teams will be giving their all so it promises to be a good match.
