Brackley Town Preview

Cirencester Town make the trip to St James Park on Saturday, not home of Newcastle Utd or Exeter City but that of Brackley Town for their Evo-Stik Southern Premier clash.

Brackley currently sit 6th in the league table having won 5 drawn 1 and lost 3 of their opening 9 games scoring 20 and conceding 14 along the way and have 16 points to their name. Like Cirencester they also slipped out of the FA Cup last weekend disappointingly losing to Hellenic Premier league side Thame Utd 2-0 and will no doubt be looking to bounce back this coming Saturday and concentrate on their league title aspirations.

Last season when the two sides met Brackley did the double over Cirencester Town winning 3-0 at the Corinium Stadium in September 2010 and then winning 4-1 in early January at St James Park with Tom Winters netting a hat-trick.

Brackley Town certainly boast some impressive firepower with Tom Winters (pictured below) a former Oxford Utd professional and he already has 5 goals to his name this season.

Along with Winters there is the vastly experienced 32 year old striker,  Jefferson Louis (pictured below) who has seen service at a remarkable 25 different clubs across the country ranging from professional sides Bristol Rovers, Oxford Utd, Mansfield Town, Wrexham through to non league sides such as Gainsborough Trinity, Woking, Yeading, Eastleigh and Maidenhead Utd. Louis has also represented Dominica against Barbados in a World Cup qualifier.

Cirencester Town have defender Andy Gunn missing for just this game through suspension for his sending off against Frome Town recently while striker Paul Banks returns from his recent suspension and he came through a Development team game on Tuesday night so should take his place in the squad. Midfielder James Mortimer-Jones also played a part in the Development team game to get some match fitness after sitting on the bench for the last two games and he will be pushing for a recall to the side. Defender Callum Henry who this week signed on loan from Forest Green Rovers will start with Zak Westlake and Matt Sysum battling out for the other centre back spot in the side.

Goalkeeper Mike Green (pictured below) hopes to have recovered from a slight injury picked up in the Swindon Supermarine game last weekend though speculation mounts over his future with the club with both Cheltenham Town and Gloucester City showing some interest in him.
