Thank You From Dave Pyzer Of The Development Team

I hope you will allow me to offer my sincere thanks to everyone involved in the organisation of the Presentation Evening last Friday and to record my thoughts following events that occurred during the evening.

As you will no doubt be aware I had previously indicated my decision to step down from my involvement with the Development Team after almost 14 years and I am sure you will understand that I was extremely touched by the kind comments I received during the evening.

This decision was not taken easily as I first began coaching at the Under 5’s age group and the Development Team is really the Under 18’s now. I am sure you will appreciate I have seen many of the team grow from small boys into fine young men.

When Richard Pitt and I first brought our boys to training sessions they were held as a group in the ‘tennis court’ alongside the pitch at Smithsfield before eventually moving across the road to the Deer Park School.  It was at this stage that individual age groups began to be created and Richard and I took responsibility for the Under 6’s.

Over the years we have always tried to provide the boys with a challenge and with this in mind entered the team into the Midland Junior Premier League at under 13’s – we could not have done this without the full support and commitment of the parents due to the amount of travelling involved. Our parents have always been very supportive and helpful whenever we have placed these requests before them and for this I offer my sincere thanks.

The boys have always risen to the challenges and their successful transition to adult football in the Hellenic League during the last two seasons is testament to their ability. This has been recognised by the Club, as ten of them have been on the First Team bench this season and six of these have taken part in the action.

After the main presentations the Development Team kindly presented me with a framed Cirencester Town FC shirt that had been signed by them all and I am sure everyone will understand how much this wonderful gesture means to me. As I mentioned earlier they are an exceptional group of young men who have always welcomed new members into the fold and this in turn has created a team of character.

Shortly afterwards I also received an unexpected gift from the parents in the form of a signed card and a Gift Voucher. I very much appreciate the opportunity you gave me to look after your boys - it has been my pleasure to work with these fine young men who have been an inspiration to me as they have taken on whatever has been thrown at them with enthusiasm and commitment and I am proud to have been associated with them.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish them all well in their future careers both on and off the field and to thank them for the signed shirt which is, and always will be, much treasured.

I would also like to thank the parents for their support and friendship over the years as without this we could not have achieved the successes we have.

Whilst in ‘thanking mode’ I would like to acknowledge the support and assistance provided by Rob Saunders on the Club Website, the support and assistance received from Andy James, and of course last but not least,  the dedication and support of Richard Pitt during our long journey.

MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL.

I hope to spend my new found time watching the First Team, and whenever possible the Development Team, and hopefully many of the ‘boys’ will progress to the First Team in the future.

Sincere thanks and Best Wishes

Dave Pyzer
