After another successful season for all of our teams, the 2010-11 End of Season Awards were presented at our End of Season Party on Friday 6th May 2011:

Our Chairman, Steve Abbley started the evening by thanking a number of club staff and members for their hard work during the season:

Mark O'Brien - our  Matchday Progamme Editor who is also our Bar and Catering Manager

Hannah and Nathan Hughes who have run our matchday Burger Bar and helped out with many other things.

Danny O'Brien - our Matchday Gateman

Ian Stewart - our matchday reporter and photographer

Rob Saunders - our Website Editor

Hannah Hughes and Georgie Shaw - who sell our raffle tickets on matchdays

Rita & Brian Davis for hosting the Boardroon Hospitality on matchdays with help from Claire Cox and Rachel Flanagan.

Kevin Abbley our Groundsman

Tony Abbley - our Maintenance man

Neil Shaw  - Kit Manager

Alan Lloyd - our hardworking Director of Football

Committee Members - Peter Mills and Dave Bougen

Alan Sykes - Our Club President, who comes in to the Club every day and gets in everyone's way!

Anyone else who he may have forgotten to mention, or who he did mention but I have omitted from this article!


Steve then went on to present the following award:

Clubman of the Year

Presented to Neil Shaw for all of his hard work looking after the First Team's kit, changing rooms, other many varied tasks, and who has done everything that he has been asked to do during the whole season.

Congratulations Neil from all of us at the Club for such a well deserved award.





Steve then handed the microphone over to each of the team managers to present their team awards for the season:

 

Academy Teams 

Academy Director, Steve Lowndes, confirmed that the Academy has had another successful season, winning through to the knockout stages of the English Colleges FA, Premier League, coming second in the regional league stage, to Hartpury College having drawn both matches with them. The season is still not finished, the Academy have been drawn away at Myerscough College from Lancashire, who were undefeated winners of their regional league, in a very tough Quarter Final tie to be played later this month and thr Academy also have one more South West Counties league match to be played.

Other highlights of the season were Connor Thompson's call up to the England School Under 18's team along with his very promising displays for our first team, as well as the fact that six second year Academy students, including Connor, have been awarded places at colleges in the USA.

He also thanked Steve Abbley and the Club for the continued support the Academy have received, and in particular he thanked Kevin Abbley, Tony Abbley and Mark O'Brien for their help, before going on to present the following awards:


Under 17's Team:

Players' Player of the Season - Josh Moore

Manager's Player of the Season - Joe Shephard


Under 19's:

Players' Player of the Season - Steve Bray

Manager's Player of the Season - Connor Thompson


Members of the Under 19's team, who are finishing at the Academy, then presented Steve Lowndes with a present for all his help and guidance over their two years at the Academy. 



Ladies First Team

The Ladies First Team has been run by Calvin Jackson and Daniel Courtney this season.

Daniel started by thanking Rich Collins for all of his help during the season, and also gave special thanks to Caz Dowdeswell, their team captain, before handing over to  Calvin to present the following awards:

Players' Player of the Season - Katy Coleman, who has been the teams "rock" in the centre of defence.

Most Improved Player of the Season - Becky Elson, the team's goalkeeper

Managers' Player of the Season - Adelle Worsley



Ladies Reserve Team

Rich Collins, the Ladies Reserve Team's manager,  presented the following awards:

Players' Player of the Season - Zoe Morbley

Most Improved Player of the Season - Katy Moore

Manager's Player of the Season - Linda Weaven

Finally, Rich gave special thanks to Ladies team Club Captain, Karen Messenger, for all of her hard work and commitment in twenty years with the Club.

 

Development Team


Richard Pitt started by raising a toast to Development Team player, Callum Mackinnon, who tragically died in a car accident early in the season.

He then thanked the following people:

Mike Turner, Andy Hayward and Andy Buchan for their financial support

Pete Mills for sponsoring the team's Rain Jackets.

Danielle and Sharron Redford for serving the Food and Bar on matchdays

Jenny Pyzer and Rachel Dunton for doing the Matchday raffle and entrance fees,


Richard then presented the following awards:

Supporters' Player of the Season - Mike Hedges

Managers' Player of the Season - Liam James

Players' Player of the Season - Mike Hedges

Richard then went on to thank Dave Pyzer who is stepping down from the role of Joint Development Team Manager, for all his help and commitment over a number of years and he then presented Dave with the Development Team Clubman of the Season Award.



First Team

First Team Manager, Brian Hughes, thanked the following people for their help and support over the season:

Kevin Willetts, Tony Dunn and Steve Hale

Neil Shaw

Mark and Sue O'Brien

Kevin Abbley our Groundsman

Dave Pyzer, Rich Pitt, Andy James, and Steve Lowndes, for producing young players for this football club and he went on to say: "Seeing the likes of Paul Banks, Connor Thompson and Rob Hoskin doing so well for our First Team is really important for clubs like ours".

He then presented a bunch of flowers to Claire Cox before presenting the following awards:


Supporters' Player of the Season

Players' Player of the Season - Matt Bulman

The Four Pillars Hotel Man of the Match Season award - Jody Bevan

Manager's Player of the Season - Tom Etheredge


Finally Brian presented the Dick Reed Memorial Supporter of the Season award to Pete Randell.
