News On Zac's Injury In The VT FC Match

Just a quick update on Zac Westlake's ankle injury sustained in an horrific two footed late tackle on him during our hard fought 0-0 draw away at VT FC.

Zac went straight to a local hospital for an X-ray on his ankle, and thankfully, the diagnosis was that his ankle is not actually broken, but is very badly bruised and he has damaged ligaments.

VT FC's photographer has kindly posted on our forum a link to his website displaying photos from the match and he has captured the tackle perfectly in one of the photos:

Amazingly, the referee did not even award a free kick to Ciren and allowed the game to carry on with Zac in clear agony off the pitch but with his head lying on the touchline:

The referee apparently stated after the match that neither he nor either of his assistants saw the tackle as their views were obscured.

Out of interest, later in the match, the offending player, Nathan Pepprah-Annan, collected two yellow cards and was sent off.

Zac has been in  a terrific run of form since forcing his way back into the starting line up and had started last night's match very brightly indeed. It is obviously hugely dissappointing for him to have another setback such as this. However, it was a potentially leg-breaking tackle and the injury could have been so much worse.
