Ciren Ladies In Terrific Win Against League Leaders

Bishops Lydeard Ladies 1 - 4 Cirencester Town Ladies

Ciren Scorers: Katie Kingshott 3,
                       Emily Allen 1

This was another terrific exhibition of quality football from a team in great form, and although missing two forwards from last week's victory over Forest Green we still created a hat full of chances in both halves.

Lydeard are the best opposition we have met this year and at times played some good football themselves but found the Ciren back line more than capable of keeping the actual chances on goal to a minimum.

The pitch was flat and well cut albeit with a slope along its length, but it enabled us to play to our strengths keeping the ball moving with Lydeard, at times, left chasing shadows.

The score could, and maybe should have been more with a few "one on one" opportunities either wasted or foiled by an impressive Lydeard ‘keeper, who pulled off a string of fine saves, including a full length tip around the post from Ellie Maynard’s 25yrd free kick in the second half.
Once again the whole team performed to a great level with immense performances throughout but the diminutive Katie kingshott stood out with her pace and trickery a constant threat to the home defence.

This victory leaves Ciren in second place in the South West Women's League Division 1 East, one point behind Lydeard, but with a game in hand.
