Katie Qualifies For Final Trial At Arsenal FC's Academy.

Katie Kingshott, a member of our Under 17 girl’s squad, has successfully negotiated the first round of trials for the Arsenal FC Academy based in St Albans.

She attended on the original trial date of 29th October 2008 but after travelling up the evening before, was very disappointed when she awoke to find the training ground covered in three inches of snow. The session was rescheduled for Thursday 27th November and Katie and her father Steve, travelled again from their home in Chippenham. Katie took part in various coaching drills and a ten-a-side game. This time the weather held and she was notified on Friday 30th  November that she had been successful and was through to the final round of trials.

The Academy is overseen by the England ladies captain Kelly Smith, along with Emma Byrne, the Arsenal and Wales international goalkeeper, and offers girls the opportunity to receive a college education five mornings a week, football coaching in the afternoons and evenings and a game on Saturdays against other Academy teams. Katie is looking to pursue her football career whilst studying Sports Science and Physiotherapy so this is a perfect opportunity for her to combine both at the highest level.

Her Cirencester coach Martin Tuckwell said “We are absolutely thrilled for Katie; she is, without doubt, the most naturally gifted footballer I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She always gives 100% whether training or playing and has extremely high personal targets, which she invariably hits. She thoroughly deserves this chance and we wish her every success in the final round scheduled for February, March 2009”
