Ciren Win Final Pre-season Friendly At Rothwell

Rothwell Town 2 - 3 Cirencester Town

A Ciren team short of several key players through injury, illness and unavailability produced a decent display at Rothwell Town and came away with a 3-2 win.

With Ben Pugh, Nathan Haisley, Harry Etheridge, and Adam Mahdi all out and Ryan Shugar having decided that he could not cope with the travelling from his Cardiff home, we were seriously short of midfield players. Adi therefore decided on playing with a back three of Gary Thorne, Kes Metitiri and Andy Minturn with Dan Thompson and Lee Spalding as wing backs. Rob Dean and Steve Robertson played in midfield, with Julian Alsop and Adam Heath upfront and Matt Williams playing just behind the two of them.

Ciren were two up after 23 minutes through goals from Matt Williams and Adam Heath only for Rothwell to come back into the game before half time and grab a goal back. In the second half Steve Davies came on for Matt Williams and scored with a crisp shot into the corner of the net, and Rothwell again got a goal back with 20 minutes left.
