Ciren Pride Gets Themselves Back Into The Match After Gosport Borough Dominate The First Half Hour

If Gosport Borough's finishing had matched the sublime approach play organised by the imperious Michael Birmingham, Ciren's dogged fight back would have had no reward.

As it was, after being taken to bits in the opening phases, it was only one goal by Mike McEnery that had the visitors ahead at the break. It could have - and maybe should have - been five.

Second half, even before Adam Heath had spun and shot expertly inside the near post on the hour, Ciren had shown character and started to string some accurate passes together as well as closing down the Gosport attacks.

And the pride in the shirt shone brighter in the final 30 minutes as they tore into an increasingly wobbly Gosport defence. It took an admirable display of handling and positioning by 'Boro keeper Nick Hutchings to keep it at 1 - 1, the highlight being a pick up off the toe of Harry Etheridge when the midfielder had a fleeting far post chance.

If the improvement continues at Bishops Cleeve on Monday we should have a rip roaring Glos derby match to enjoy, especially with Michael Jackson, Adam Mayo, Lee Davis, Lyndon Tomkins (briefly), Kacey Johnstone and Gareth Hopkins all  ex-Centurions now in the home team shirts.
