Gary Thorne And Andy Minturn Are The Latest To Join The Centurions

In the last few days, Adi Viveash has secured the signings of two experienced defenders, Gary Thorne and Andy Minturn, for the upcoming season.

Gary Thorne, has joined from Mangotsfield United where he was an influential player last season. He is a vastly experienced central defender who began his career as an apprentice at Swindon Town before moving to Gloucester City where he made over 200 apprearances. He has also played for Newport County, Bath City, Merthyr Tydfil and Chippenham Town. Adi stated that he was really pleased to welcome Gary on board stating that "he was a big part of the third best defensive partnership in the Premier division last season. "He is a natural leader and someone who I have known for years. He went to the same school as me and, like me, also comes from Wootton Bassett."

Andy Minturn is well known to Ciren fans having played for us in two previous spells, and he joins us from Highworth Town. Adi said that Andy provides a good presence at the back and he wanted to test himself again at a higher level than he has played recently. "He has a lot of experience and together with Gary and Kes Metitiri, will give us real solidity at the back." Andy's other previous clubs include Bath City and Hungerford Town.

Garry Murphy has also joined the club as our new physio. Garry was at Reading FC for over ten years, working with their Reserves and Youth teams, before moving to live in Calne in Wiltshire. Last season he was the physio at Thatcham FC who will be in the same division as us this campaign. Adi said that Garry was looking for a club closer to home and contacted us. "He has all the right experience and qualifications and I am looking forward to working with him."

In the meantime, Michael Jackson has moved to Bishops Cleeve. Adi thanked Jacko for his efforts at Cirencester Town. He said, "Jacko is a true professional, colleague and a friend of mine. I had invited him back for training but he obviously wanted a new challenge and I wish him all the best at Bishops Cleeve.

On other players, Adi confirmed that Lee Molyneaux had also been invited back for training, but had not turned up. Matt Shaxton is currently playing in America and, in all likelihood, will stay there for the current season. Andrew Chapman has also been playing in America over the summer and may stay there into the new season. He has also had other English clubs showing an interest in signing him. Dan Wallington is also back training with us after his loan spell at Highworth Town last season..

Finally, Adi has a few promising young players training with us including several from our Academy including, Rob Dean, Sean Bailey and Adam Miller.

All in all, Adi and Oggy seem to be building a strong squad with a good mixture of youth and experience which should enable us to make a decent challenge in the league next season. Looking forward to our first pre-season friendly away at Hungerford Town next Saturday.
