The Academy Win The Conference Youth League Cup

Borehamwood Whites 0 - 1 Cirencester Town

Cirencester won the Football Conference Youth League Cup with a fantastic result away at Borehamwood. The game was played in an excellent spirit by both teams and was a credit to the Football Conference Youth League.

Cirencester started the game well and hit the bar after ten minutes, after a superb free kick from Lee Moulton was flicked on by Sean Bailey but rebounded off the Borehamwood crossbar and the defence was able to clear. Cirencester had the best of the first half possession but were unable to breach a solid Borewood defence.

The second half saw Cirencester take the lead through winger Lee Moulton within five minutes of the restart. Ashley Taylor played the ball out to Lee Moulton who controlled the ball superbly in his stride stepping inside the full back to unleash an unstoppable volley over the Borehamwood goalkeeper.

Borehamwood then laid siege to the Cirencester goal in search of the equaliser, the Cirencester defence having to defend a barrage of long throw ins and corners with Cirencester central defenders Aaron Stevens and Ashley Taylor continually clearing the ball.

Borehamwood failed to test Cirencester goalkeeper Adam Miller when they did get past the Cirencester defence, and Cirencester held on to win the Cup.

Congratulations to Steve Lowndes and the whole Academy squad for a great achievement. They now travel to play Exeter City in the South West Counties League Cup Final on Saturday 26th April at St. James’s Park, Exeter.
