CIRENCESTER TOWN ACADEMY
Last season, Cirencester Town's Academy were crowned SW Counties Youth League Champions in May 2009 by finishing off their season in style with a 10-0 home win over Poole Town. In 16 league fixtures they won 14, drew one and lost one, scoring 68 goals and conceding just 16 giving them an impressive goal difference of 52. Rob Hoskin finished top goal scorer with 34 goals closely followed by Max Etheridge on 30 goals. The Academy also play in the Football Conference Youth League and in the English Colleges FA Under 18 league Premier Division. This all capped a magnificent season, the team having reaching the S.W.Counties final, losing narrowly to Team Bath 3-2 and reaching the Third Round Proper of the F.A.Youth Cup only losing 2-1 to Premiership Sunderland AFC in a closely fought match at The Stadium of Light. It had been an outstanding season with some really fantastic results. Several players played in the Cirencester first team with Zak Westlake, in particular, putting in some very impressive performances. It was a real squad effort with the team being a mixture of first and second year students. Representation honours also for Jamie Moore, Max Etheridge and Adam Corcoran representing the Gloucester Schools Under 18s team.
